This gorgeous animated comedy was an official selection of the 2008 Annecy Film Festival (France) in the TV series category and was produced as a pilot for the future series Silly Beast. The characters and story were created for everyone to enjoy…the young and the young at heart.
Credits: Justine Bonnard, French director, 3D and 2D animator, story artist and character designer. Producer: Purple Productions.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: I love comedy with a universal theme. With no dialogue, this little animated gem tells the story of a beast with a big problem: a little chicken stuck to his head. Try as he might, the Silly Beast can’t get the silly chicken off his head.
I wonder if we are like the Silly Beast, always trying to get credit card debt off our heads. Even if we finally succeed and all the credit cards are paid off, somehow, someway…our past spending habits hatch a little egg of debt until it grows into a another tenacious chicken we can’t get off our heads. What comes first the chicken of debt or the egg of over-spending?
This funny animation was animated and directed by Raymond Wong of Malaysia
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: Is this story about reincarnation? Who knows…but the animation is very cool. I love the cars, Raymond’s version of a Cobra and Cadillac, I think. His story choice to cut away from the head-on crash and show the smoke from the collision from a distance was a great idea. It keeps it from being too violent. Love the ending with all the characters hanging out as angels with wings.
RAM (Random Access Memory) is an animation by Caroline Ting of New Zealand about becoming too reliant and emotionally attached to your personal computer. It is an exaggeration of the artist’s research on recent trends of dependency and attachment found in children for their PCs, especially in the U.S. and U.K. The animation centers on the interaction between two boys, Mark and Tylr, while the technical focus of the piece is on animation, particularly facial animation. The style of the piece is based on Japanese anime, which has already been used for many technological and sci-fi series and is born from a country famous for its technophilia and tendency to use technology for fun and companionship. The voice actors used were children the artist overheard at a comic book store and while most of the dialogue is scripted, Caroline also made use of excess recordings that were just too funny to not use.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: We probably all have an emotional attachment to our computers and spend more time with them than with our family and friends. When I saw Caroline’s remarkable animation, I loved her characters and the art of it all, but really identified with the story. Enjoy!
Film written and animated by Joseph Kim. Original music composed by Hylton Mowday. Sound design by Jamie Greene.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: This story could have been sappy, but when the dude starts attacking the clown balloon it turns to hysterical dark comedy and reminds all of us that no matter how nice we look there could be a psycho inside. Love it, don’t you?
An exhilarating roller-coaster ride through the animated world of Sarah as she gets revenge on the man who broke her heart. Animation by Robin King whose day job is video post production manager. He studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Robin’s acting credits include The Bill, Casualty and he’s a regular on Thieves Like Us. You can find more about Robin at: http://www.aniboom.com/boomzones/mrtricks.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: This is some of the coolest stop-motion animation I’ve seen. Don’t you agree?
This animation was ranked no. 1 in Aniboom’s community category for their 2008 animation contest. Bang Bang, You Are Bread is about a psychotic loaf of bread that seeks revenge on Dr Atkins, the creator of the low-carb revolution.
Animation by Mitch Wade http://www.aniboom.com/boomzones/notnicole.
Mitch is an Aussie animator and has been working in-house as a new media producer for two years. He has a Masters in Animation from the University of Technology, Sydney and a Bachelors of Art from the Univeristy of New South Wales.
Mitch likes cats…a lot. He has three, Bouffant, Parfum and Lacroix.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: I thought of my Kiwi sister-in-law Barbara when I saw this funny video. She doesn’t eat bread. I try not to eat bread, but my favorite meal growing up as a poor white child was Merita bread and butter, so I have to have bread…at least once in a while.
The Cheesesnatcher Part 1 is a claymation homage to Wallace & Gromit was created by Alex Crowley who lives in England and has been a claymation artist since August 2005.
He uploaded this video to YouTube on September 6, 2008 with this note: I’ve been working off and on on this claymation for almost a year now. I hope you all enjoy it!
Facts about this film:
-Wallace’s voices were recorded from the four wallace and gromit films
-All of the models were built by myself, and the sets were made with help from my dad (the clock and fireplace were bought from a shop though! don’t remember which lol)
-If you have any further questions, feel free to leave a comment. I’ll try my hardest to reply to them. Enjoy! I will work on the second part soon.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: Animation is extraordinarily time and labor intensive. I admire anyone who has the patience and talent to create stop-motion animation. Alex has an amazing talent for you, don’t you think?

Shaun is a sheep who does not follow the flock. Shaun has his own TV show worldwide. Check out more short clips and info about Shaun at www.shaunthesheep.com
Shaun is brought to us by the creators of Wallace and Gromit.
FUNNYFIXX NOTE: I like to feature videos brought in from the creators’ websites or video channels. The short, short clip above, “Shape-Up With Shaun,” came directly from the ShaunTheSheep website. After watching “Shape-Up” you’ll need to click the “Off” button under the video at the left or it will automatically replay.
One of my fav Shaun video is “Life’s A Treat” but I could only find it from a non-original source on YouTube. I’m posting it below because it’s too wonderful to miss.
