30 ROCK & ALEC BALDWIN BOTH EMMY WINNERS

Congratulations to 30 Rock (Outstanding Comedy Series) and Alec Baldwin (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) for winning Emmy Awards last night. Also writer Matt Hubbard won for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

In this video clip, Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) goes to meet Generalissimo (Alec Baldwin, obviously).

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: I interviewed Alec Baldwin years ago…but who cares? It was for one of the first Hollywood Online columns I wrote called P.O.V. Hollywood. Baldwin was lobbying PBS to broadcast a mutual friend’s documentary called Building Bombs. The documentary eventually was aired after a great deal of editing. The original cuts were a little too anti-nuc for PBS!

THE INFORMANT! TRAILER

Here’s the trailer for The Informant! opening this weekend!

Here’s the scoop: What was Mark Whitacre thinking? A rising star at agri-industry giant Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Whitacre suddenly turns whistleblower. Even as he exposes his company’s multi-national price-fixing conspiracy to the FBI, Whitacre envisions himself being hailed as a hero of the common man and handed a promotion. But before all that can happen, the FBI needs evidence, so Whitacre eagerly agrees to wear a wire and carry a hidden tape recorder in his briefcase, imagining himself as a kind of de facto secret agent. Unfortunately for the FBI, their lead witness hasn’t been quite so forthcoming about helping himself to the corporate coffers. Based on the true story of the highest-ranking corporate whistleblower in U.S. history.

Director, Steven Soderbergh; Writer (screenplay) Scott Z. Burns; Writer (book), Producer, Kurt Eichenwald. Starring Matt Damon and Scott Bakula.

CAR WASH MUSICAL: The Jay Leno Show

Congrats to Jay Leno on his new show. This short video by The Dan Band was featured on the show. I love musicals and this one was too funny.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: The car wash featured in this video is one I drove by often when I was in Burbank for meetings at Warner Bros. It’s down the block across the street from NBC.
Never got my car washed there. Starving Hollywood writers can’t afford to have their cheap compacts washed, even with free entertainment.

ZOMBIELAND TRAILER

13. COMEDY FILM CLIPS 1 Comment »

Time: 1:58

This is the International Trailer for Zombieland. Columbia Pictures’ horror comedy Zombieland focuses on two men who have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) is a big wuss – but when you’re afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive. Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) is an AK-totin’, zombie-slayin’ badbutt whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth. As they join forces with Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin), who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.

In theatres October 2, 2009.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: Saw a trailer for this last night when I went to see District 9. Looks like a must-see film to me.

DESPERATE HOLLYWOOD

How desperate does it get in Hollywood? Check out this video and you’ll see.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: Part of the insanity about living in LA is that everyone you know is in the “business.” Everyone is looking for a break. Everyone is in therapy. Desperation looms over the streets of Hollywood like a smoke plume from the wildfires raining ash down on those mad enough to think they are the One. The One who will get the call back, the role in the new sitcom and a new house in The Hills. The One who will sell their spec script for a cool mil and finally get a movie made. The One who…well, you get the picture. And you know what? Maybe the One who thinks they are the One, IS the One! Someone’s got to be.
