At the top of the box office this weekend was the animated feature Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs with a weekend gross of $24,600,000 playing in 3,119 theatres (average $7,887 per theatre…which is very high). Total gross for its two week run is $60,036,000. Since its budget is reported to be $100 million, looks like this little jewel is headed for “profits” soon. But of course, the way Hollywood’s accounting system works, there are “no net” profits. DVD rentals and sales should be through the roof.
