NOTICE: Unfortunately the gods of the 48 Hour Film Project have asked filmmakers to keep their shorts private until after the awards are announced June 24. THEN this funny film will be available for you to watch. Sorry.

When you can’t pay the rent sometimes you have to get creative.

Credits: Directed and written by Matt Wade, produced by Mike Edinger, edited by Matt Wade and Beno Varghese. Cast: Nathan Emilio, Eric Mitchell, Beno Varghese, Jasmine Mitchell, Jason Neiner and Patricia Chou. See end credits on the film for full crew credits.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: This is one of the 48 Hour Film Project shorts in competition in this year’s Jacksonville contest. I love how things keep getting worse and worse. Solving one problem leads to another. Congrats to Slacker Films!!

LAND OF THE LOST BOX OFFICE

It cost an estimated $200 million to produce, market and distribute worldwide. Producers projected at least a $30 million opening weekend, but Land of the Lost barely brought in $19.5 million, losing out to the buddies comedy The Hangover and Pixar’s Up. Up ended up #1 this last weekend with $44.2 million box office receipts and a total of $137.3 million since it opened. The Hangover, an R-rated raunch fest, came in at #2 with $43.3 million.

Land of the Lost looks cool and funny but before the premiere, buzz was that it was “family unfriendly” with toilet humor even though it was rated PG-13. Check out the trailer above and here’s the brief storyline below.

Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world – a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost.

This short film is a new jewel I found on Aniboom, a cool website for animators. I love live action teamed with animation and this concept and theme (price of greed) is fab. The creator is Romeo4132 on Aniboom.

A new era in American late night television began last night when Conan O’Brien took over The Tonight Show from Jay Leno. The opening was hysterical and I hope the show continues to produce short comedy videos. Have a watch if you didn’t tune in last night.

OFFICE CPR

Time: :51

After Dwight set the office on fire as an exciting fire safety demonstration, Stanley had a heart attack. Now that Stanley has recovered, everyone in the office must take CPR training. But, somehow, the training session goes terribly wrong.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: This is another clip from Season Five’s “Stress Relief” episode. It wasn’t enough for Dwight, the safety officer for the office, to set the office on fire to prove his point about fire safety, he flips out during the CPR training session. It takes a seriously sick comic genius to come up with this stuff.
