JACKSONVILLE AXEMEN: “Don’t Drink Imported Beer? Look Out For The Axemen!”

JACKSONVILLE AXEMEN 3 Comments »

Time: 1:30

The Jacksonville Axemen Rugby League Team take their sponsors VERY seriously, especially Barons Brewing.

Written by Daryl Spinner Howland. Produced by Sharon Y. Cobb. A Production of FunnyFixx.com. Music composed and performed by Shawn K. Clement. Starring Brian McLogan, Nick “Wicked” Shea, Joshua G. Jackson, Rich Alleger, Jamie Uyttewaal, Jay DeFau, John Turlington, Kenny Brit and Chris Cassells. Spokesman in video: Daryl Spinner Howland, Jacksonville Axemen Co-Founder, Operations and Coach. Drew Slover, Jacksonville Axemen Co-Founder, General Manager-Marketing & Advertising.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: Rugby League is one of the coolest sports in the world. When my husband and I heard there was a rugby league team in Jacksonville, we went to their first game, bought season tickets and attended every home game. Our team is the Jacksonville Axemen. When their co-founder, Spinner Howland, brought Russell Crowe’s team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, to our town for an exhibition match against the Leeds Rhinos, thousands turned up for the game.

Spinner helped me with a script I wrote, Rugby Girlz, about a New Zealand Maori girl sent to live in the American Deep-Fried South. She starts a girls rugby team and a girl-power movement in the hick town. I’m hopeful that one day that film will get made…but meantime…when Spinner ask me to help with a video he wrote for his Axemen team, I said definitely yes. I shot this video in one hour with rugby players as actors. Two days later I had it edited and up on the Axemen’s new YouTube website: http://www.youtube.com/user/JacksonvilleAxemen. GO AXEMEN!!

THE OFFICE: Webisode #1 Kevin’s Loan, Money Trouble

Time: 2:01

Originally premiering on the internet on 7/1/08, The Office webisodes are an excellent example of how a current television show can expand its presence outside the boob tube box. This is the first webisode Oscar gives Kevin a lesson in Money 101.

Credits: Directed by Brent Forrester, written by Anthony Farrell, starring Brian Baumgartner and Oscar Nunez

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: We’ll be posting continuing webisodes for the “Kevin’s Loan” series on FunnyFixx.com. Kevin missed his calling. His business ethics could have made him the CEO of a big Wall Street firm and he could have been living in the Caymans with billions in bonuses by now.

MARTIAL ARTS COW FIGHT

COMEDY FILM CLIPS 1 Comment »

Time: 2:34

Warning: Cow full frontal nudity

This clip from the martial arts parody Kung Pow: Enter The Fist makes you want to watch the movie, right? The film’s writer/director Steve Oedekerk, who also stars as The Chosen One, uses modern-day characters but integrates them into a 1970s kung-fu film. It’s a story of revenge and martial arts gone over-the-edge.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: Parody is one of my favorite forms of comedy. This movie works because we’ve seen the original serious versions of martial arts films and we get the jabs at the Matrix “bullet time” slo-mo scenes. A black-belt cow takes the genre to a whole new level of insanity.

MAYOR OF PANTHER COUNTY #4 Hometown Exemption

MAYOR OF PANTHER COUNTY No Comments »

Time: 2:51

It’s just Owen and Roy Ray sipping moonshine and talking politics. Owen adds to his electability by promising to outlaw banks and credit cards in Panther County. All natives will have a hometown exemption (translation: no taxes) with the new rich folks paying all the taxes for everyone.

Web series stars Wesley Nielsen as Roy Ray, Laura Morey as Dottie, Amanda Ayres as Regina, Armando Versace as Bernie, Tom Riska as Gene and introducing Kenny Logsdon as Owen Bowen. Music Composed and Performed by Shawn K. Clement. Webisodes written and produced by Sharon Y. Cobb. Executive Producer, Richard E. Lyons.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: The script for this webisode was written on January 1, 2009 before the madness of U.S. bank failures was in full stride. The cash-economy concepts in this video comes from members of my family who use cash for everything, not trusting the banks and thinking credit cards are the work of the devil. I believed that was a naïve idea…until recently. But, hey, maybe Junior is on to something.

See The Junior Show to meet the man behind our cash-economy story:

In this webisode, Owen Bowen and Roy Ray reflect ideas that’s been the way of life for many out in the Florida sticks forever.

SILLY BEAST & THE CHICKEN

FUNNY ANIMATION 1 Comment »

Time: 2:14

This gorgeous animated comedy was an official selection of the 2008 Annecy Film Festival (France) in the TV series category and was produced as a pilot for the future series Silly Beast. The characters and story were created for everyone to enjoy…the young and the young at heart.

Credits: Justine Bonnard, French director, 3D and 2D animator, story artist and character designer. Producer: Purple Productions.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: I love comedy with a universal theme. With no dialogue, this little animated gem tells the story of a beast with a big problem: a little chicken stuck to his head. Try as he might, the Silly Beast can’t get the silly chicken off his head.

I wonder if we are like the Silly Beast, always trying to get credit card debt off our heads. Even if we finally succeed and all the credit cards are paid off, somehow, someway…our past spending habits hatch a little egg of debt until it grows into a another tenacious chicken we can’t get off our heads. What comes first the chicken of debt or the egg of over-spending?
