Jakob the sausage fancier has simple needs…a humble cookie. However, his old nemesis won’t hear of it.

Justin James Clayden of Wombarra Studios in Australia produces plasticine-fueled, guerrilla animation for film, advertising and just general hysterical entertainment. See more about his work at: http://www.coolfusion.com.au/Wombarra_Studios/about.html.

FUNNYFIXX NOTE: I’m a huge fan of “claymation” and stop-motion animation in general. I discovered Justin’s work on blip.tv where FunnyFixx has a channel for international distribution of our original webisodes. The Crumb That Got Away features some of the best stop-motion animation with plasticine I’ve seen. Justin has one other video made with this technique and I hope to post it soon.

This took me about 5 weeks and was lots of fun to make! I had to make a number of different heads for the main character’s extreme expressions, so I had to learn how to use latex and plaster. I built a lighting rig with an Arduino board, and wrote some software in Processing to control it, as well as remember lighting setups for recreating later.

The last shots with the ants riding away on the motorbikes are of a set I built on a record turntable.

    Happy Watching!
